Google Gets in Trouble in South Korea: Still Working on Adding Voice Search Function

Location tracking controversy hounding Google and Apple is not expected to die anytime soon. While both the companies have been sued by the users in the United States, Google is getting the rough edge overseas as well. While many users have claimed that they are not much concerned about such data tracking, South Korean government seems to think otherwise.

South Korean police launched a raid on the company's Seoul offices as it suspected the collection of personal without permission. The police is specifically investigating the search giant's mobile advertising arm, AdMob. The police official claimed that the company may be collecting data without receiving approval from the Korean Communication Commission.

However, Google does not seem to be perturbed by these raids, as the company is well known for flouting rules and regulations. I would be hard pressed to name a country where the company is not embroiled in one controversy or another. While we do not condone the company's blatant disregard for established norms, the silver lining among these clouds is that such proceedings do not stop the company from carrying out its core activities.

The search giant is always working towards making its search function better and better and it looks like it would be porting one of the very attractive feature of its Android search app to desktop. The company is expected to add voice feature to its desktop search function soon. Apparently, the company is currently testing this feature. Some lucky Google users have reported the spotting of 'microphone' in the search bar. Though, voice search had been around on mobiles for quite some time, it is going to be a new one for desktop search. It is said that the website detects if the microphone on the computer is enable. It also takes into account if the web browser is compatible with this feature. Though I have not got to see the Microphone icon on my Google homepage, let us know if you spot one.
