Samsung Galaxy S Gets Gingerbread: Galaxy S II Gets Launch Date

After hitting countries like Germany and Holland, Gingerbread update for Samsung Galaxy S has finally arrived in the UK as well. At least, for Vodafone Galaxy S that is. The carrier has just issued a press release about the arrival of the update. So, if you are a proud owner of Vodafone Galaxy S, then go ahead and connect your device to your computer and head to Samsung KIES app. Rest of the procedure is intuitive and voila, now you are able to use enhanced copy/paste function and new Android Keyboard. The update has also brought a bunch of UI enhancements, making it more user friendly and better power management. There are some rumors that non branded Galaxy S have also started receiving the update, but no such confirmed news is available.

While Galaxy S is getting some new fancy clothes, its successor Galaxy S II has received release date on O2 network. If you are on O2 UK network and want to get Galaxy S II then your wait is almost over. The carrier will be bringing you the new phone in May and you can pre-order it right here right now. Apparently, O2 is offering the phone with £37 per month contract. The plan will have unlimited text feature while your data usage will be capped at 500 MB per month. The free talk time included in the plan is 600 minutes long. When compared to the Galaxy S II deals offered by other carriers, O2 plan does not seem to have any discerning feature. But hey, we are pretty sure there would be plenty of takers.

Galaxy S II is sure one hunk of a phone with its 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen. The phone packs a dual core processor on the inside and offers smooth multitasking experience. While Galaxy S is still in the process of getting Gingerbread update, this phone comes preloaded with 2.3. Samsung has big hopes from this one and in its quest for perfection, the phone launch was delayed quite a few times.
