The internet has truly changed the way video games are experienced and I'm not taking simply talking about online play. Okay, the internet is nothing new but it seems that only now are game developers utilizing the potential in their fans. Game forums are a great way for like-minded gamers to chat about their favourite games and to help each other out. For game developers this means they've got a swarm of fans in one place having direct contact to consumers means that they can see what's working and what's not, but what's really exciting is when the fans are literally allowed to dive into the game themselves.
The internet is crammed with talented people who are more than competent with code/game design etc and Black Ops is the latest game waiting for them to crack open and explore. Treyarch (before the launch Black Ops) promised that they intended to provide the PC community with a set of mod tools.
Credit to them, they kept their word and now coming at some point in May they will deliver a set of mod tools to the PC Black Ops.
It's impossible to guess what sort of tools the community will get but most are expecting map tools which would mean an end to the need to fork out hard earned pocket money on map packs. We all know how strict Treyarch are with cheating, so they'll be avoiding mods that could directly impact gameplay or give users an unfair advantage.
We'll keep our eye on the story and let you know more on the tools as and when we know. In the meantime, are you a PC Black Oper, what tools would you love to get your hands on?
