HTC Desire S is in the UK courtesy Orange. The carrier is offering the phone free on contract but be prepared to shell out £35 per month. Though, we do not have any details about the £30 plan, but we certainly have detailed specs of the phone. This 3.7 inch phone comes with 1.1 GB on board memory, which can be extended to 8GB via MicroSD card. The phone has 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 768 MB RAM. It also features 5MP rear facing camera.
And as you can see, there is nothing much to write home about this phone, but, hey, not everyone is willing to wield dual-core 4 inches+ phone. Some of us still prefer our phones to be pocket-friendly, in each and every sense of the word. By the way, the phone runs on Android 2.3 operating system and has an overlay of HTC Sense. It is also the first HTC phone to support Signal Boost. Orange is also expected to include specific services such as Orange Maps and Orange Mail in the package.
If you are still with us, and HTC, but do not want to spend £35 per month, then Vodafone has brought you the cheaper option. The phone is available through Vodafone for £30 per month, saving you solid £5 per month. With £30, you would get 600 minute and unlimited text messages. It also includes 500 MB of data per month. Since Orange has not divulged relevant details about its £35 per month plan, we cannot make any comparison. However, Vodafone plan sounds reasonable enough.
Vodafone has offered one more option, where you can pay £99 up front for the phone and your monthly bills gets slashed to £25. However, for saving £5, you also will have to sacrifice 500 monthly minutes, as this plan will give you only 100 free minutes. Your text quota will also come down from unlimited to 500 texts per month. However, you can still use 500 MB worth of data. Out of these two plans, the superiority of the first plan is abundantly clear but we are sure that there are many users who are going to opt for the second options. If you are one of them let us know the reasons.
