CTIA: Samsung Launches 8.9 inch Tab, HTC Shows off Evo 3D

CTIA Wireless 2011 is underway in Florida and the companies are busy hawking their latest gizmos. However, it was Samsung's 8.9 inch tablet which turned out to be the device of the day. Samsung started its presentation with its 10.1 inch tablet, followed by the new 8.9 inch contraption. The tablet comes with the same HD display as that of its 10.1 inch sibling, and weighs 470 grams with 8.6 mm thickness. Samsung did not provide any specifications about its dual core processor, however, quite surprisingly it did provide the pricing of the tablet. Samsung 10.1 inch tablet has been priced at $499 and $599 for 16 GB and 32 GB models respectively. Whereas, 8.9 inch tab with 16 GB on board storage will cost you $469. The 32 GB model will come with a price tag of $569. Expect the 8.9 tablet to hit the store shelves in this summer season, while 10.1 inch Samsung Tab will debut on June 8.

Samsung made its impact with its line-up of tablets, but let's not forget about the mobile handsets. Sprint proudly presented HTC Evo 3D. This phone has the distinction of being first 3D phone with 4G connectivity. Keeping up with the trend of bigger and bigger mobile phone screens, Evo 3D sports 4.3 inch HD display. Under its hood, the phone has a 1.2 GHz dual core snapdragon processor. You can record and playback 3D videos without using those wonky glasses. Jumping on the tablet bandwagon, the company showed off its offering, 7-inch HTC Evo View 3G/4G tablet. The tablet currently runs on Gingerbread, but the company has promised Honeycomb upgrade in the near future. Gingerbread is generally considered to be sufficient for smaller tablets like this one. Unlike Samsung, HTC chose to keep the pricing under the wraps. The company, however, said that both the products are likely to be available from this summer.
