Gamefest The Latest UK Gadget Show

If you love gadgets then your must love the Birmingham NEC. It's fast becoming the HQ of all things cool. Each year channel 5's Gadget Show brings its live gadget bonanza to the NEC and gives geeks and the tech press alike the opportunity to fiddle with the latest gizmos and take a glimpse into the future.

And now video games chain Game has announced that it will be staging its own consumer show this year at the NEC. Gamefest will take place over the weekend of the 16th to 18th of September.

According to a report by trade magazine MCV, the show will be an extension of the hugely exciting sounding store managers' conference and only reward card holders will be allowed entry. =[ but it's better than nothing and if it proves popular maybe the doors will swing open to the public.

Game has said that the event will be a consumer focused games show. However, no actual details have been released yet as to what exactly can be expected.

In the mean time here's a little countdown of the top 3 UK tech shows. In years to come maybe the Gamefest will be riding high on a similar countdown.

1. Gadget Show Live

Top of the table with no signs of falling any time soon. The Gadget Show Live is the ultimate tech event here in the UK. Everything tech is catered for from test tracks for the latest in transport innovation to stalls showing off the future of technology to the standard TV, home entertainment and games stalls. If you say you're a fan of gadgets then you must have a space in your diary for this epic 5 day event.

2. Ideal Home Show

Our very own Gadget Girl had a look around the IHS recently and spotted some vary funky pieces of tech which could cement your home firmly in the 21st Century. More a chance to see what you could spend your money on if you were a millionaire with a mansion to furnish than a carnival of gadgets; it's great to see how our homes could look in the future.

3. The BETT show

Is an educational festival that brings teachers and gadgets together. It sounds a little boring and maybe it is. It's not something you go to play on the latest consoles but it's a very important show and helps technology help us in the world of learning from school, to college to higher education.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
