We've all by now heard of the tragic events in Japan and our thoughts are with the people affected and their families.
Everyone of course is doing their bit to help including the big tech companies.
Google have posted a warning on their usually blank home-pages. "Tsunami Alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others. Waves expected over the next few hours, caused by 8.9 earthquake in Japan" reads a banner at the bottom of the Google page.
Google have also launched a “person-finder” service to help friends and family to keep in touch after the power has gone down due to the quake.

The lovely people of Facebook have started groups to aid in relief and support so if you want to help get involved here or here.
Those who aren't directly helping out in relief efforts are offering their prayers and sympathy to Japan. #PrayforJapan, #Tsunami, Tokya Disneyland, Sendai, Fukushima and related terms have taken over the Trending Topics list as people pay their condolences.
