If you are a fan of the amazing social news app Flipboard and are planning to get a new iPad 2 - then your in luck as the company behind it are going to release a new version.
Flipboard takes your Twitter and Facebook accounts, and aggregates every link from your friends. It then takes the content and images from those URLs and tiles them on your iPad screen, in the style of a social magazine. If you haven’t seen or heard of it – you really should.
A variety of different information sources, from Twitter and Facebook to Flipboard-managed news feeds, can be accessed from a contents page.
You can flip through the many pages of ‘news’ with your finger. At any time, you can tap on one photo or news item to make it full-screen. In that view, you can comment on articles, reply to the original poster via Twitter or, if you’re looking through links from Facebook, hit the all-important ‘like’ button.
Some of the new features included in then new update will see much better social search for Facebook, Facebook Groups, Twitter, Flickr and Google Reader with the results displayed in Flipboard's magazine-style layout, Instagram integration, faster rendering and two new partners (Wired.com and photo blog Pictory).
There's also some clever UI changes including a clearer way to refresh content and a new featured ribbon to highlight editors' picks. You'll be able to grab the new Flipboard this Friday on the current iPad and we'd bet lots of people will open it as one of the first apps to oggle on the iPad 2.
