Today Opera announced that their browser has become the first third-party internet browser available on iOS via the App Store (though it could be previously downloaded from the Opera website.)
What's truly strange about this is not that Apple have actually let something into their precious little store for once, but that they have stated that the Opera browser is only for those aged 17 and over.
Opera's Jan Standal has laughed the decision off saying: "I'm very concerned. Seventeen is very young, and I am not sure if, at that age, people are ready to use such an application. It's very fast, you know, and it has a lot of features. I think the download requirement should be at least 18."
Jokes aside, it's another sign that Apple has completely lost the plot when it comes to moderating content on their App Store. It's getting damn boring going over the same thing over and over again. But the hundredth time's a charm. We all accept that quality control is important. But Apple really need to relax before they start seriously losing customers, there's been some outrageous decisions by Apple in terms of content and this one could take the biscuit.
