We’ve had press conferences, showcases and previews. But now Google has finally made their all-new Honeycomb Android operating system official. Not by releasing it, that would far too normal. No, they made it official by creating a giant statue at their Google campus in Los Angeles.
We love a bit of design, but we would much prefer it if Google spent more time on their Android eco-system, rather than making all be it nice statues, it might be in a better health and less fragmented for its users.
The main problem with Android is everyone is running different versions, most mobile phone users are on varying versions of Froyo or Gingerbread across a range of different increments. We’re just hoping that his fracturing of the user base doesn’t happen on the tablet side of the business.
Factor in Google’s move to bring Gingerbread with the new features of Honeycomb to make a new OS, Ice Cream – they need to get their house in order – as it’s becoming more than a little confusing. They need to take a leaf out of Apple’s book – with sensible updates across the board.
