Apple and Samsung may have washed their hands clean of 7-inch tablets, but that wouldn't dissuade Motorola from venturing intothe segment. The company had been talking about its 7-inch plan for some time and it has been reiterated, yet again, at Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference held in San Francisco. He also said that both 7-inch and 10-inch form factor are important for Motorola.
Motorola also went on to differentiate between the tablets claiming that smaller tablet is more "fun" and 'portable" whereas the bigger one is mainly targeted at professionals. So, now we expect to see a 7 inch tablet with corresponding "fun" price tag instead of the outrageous one we got to see for "professional" Xoom tab. Motorola CEO also said that the tablet prices are likely to come down in the second half of the year. When asked about sales performance of Xoom, the CEO gave a rather cryptic reply stating, "sales have started relatively well'. and Just like Verizon, he too refused to give any concrete numbers.
