Motorola Xoom to be Sent Back to Verizon for LTE Upgrade

Motorola Xoom looked like a worthy opponent to iPad, what with all its drool worthy features and less than palatable price tag. However, looks like this shiny tablet has got some chinks in its armour. Outrageous price notwithstanding, the tablet arrived sans Flash support and if this wasn't disappointing enough, now there is the news that for upgrading this tablet to its true 4G potential, its proud owners will have to send it back to Motorola for hardware changes. However, Motorola is nice enough to let you send the tablet to the factory free of charge. However, the silver lining in the cloud is that the tablet may get upgrade by the end of May.

The news has been confirmed by the company. The process will take six days, where Xoom owners would use Fedex boxes to send the tablet to Verizon. Although, no confirmed dates have been given, but Verizon said that the upgrade will be available "shortly after launch." Well, if this is how Motorola is planning to tackle iPad, then we are going to say a little prayer for this otherwise lovely tablet.
