As you can see in the picture to the left, Facebook was a key tool in the recent Egyptian Revolution and the people are fully aware of it.
Many young people used Facebook and other social media networks to organize the protests, which began January 25 and ultimately led to the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak after 30 years in power and Google executive Wael Ghonim, used Facebook to become a central figure of the revolution.
Naturally the people feel that they should celebrate and honour Facebook which seems fine- but there's tagging a wall with Facebook and then there's naming a child Facebook.
Which is exactly what a man in Egypt has named his newborn daughter in honour of the role that the social media network played in bringing about the revolution.
Gamal Ibrahim gave his daughter the name “to express his joy at the achievements made by the January 25 youth,” according to a report in Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.
Well there's always Deed Poll. Do they have that in Egypt?
