It happened with the iPhone 3GS when the iPhone 4 was released and now with are seeing the same pattern emerging again with the iPad. What pattern you might ask? Well, often when there is a new product due to be released into the tech world, the retailers slash the prices of older models to make way for the newer ones.
We all know that the iPad 2 is rumoured to be released sometime in April so it is no wonder that Orange have slashed the prices of iPad devices to make room for the release of the iPad 2.
Although we would like to think that Orange are just being generous by dropping their prices, I can't help thinking that with rumours of a new iPad 2 and a release date expected in the next couple of weeks, it is almost likely that they are clearing stock to make room for the new iPad.
However, Orange are remaining tight lipped about the release and when asked on Twitter:
“GajIt @OrangeHelpers Is it true to are getting rid of the old iPad stock to make way for the iPad 2 release date?”
They replied:
“Orange Helpers UK @GajIt Not that I’m aware of. It may just be a promotion. ^Andy”
If you've had your eye on the iPad for a while but haven't been able to make the push to buy one then Orange and T-Mobile are now selling the iPads for £99 on a 24 month contract for existing customers.
Do you think this offer is a promotion only or are Orange just keeping tight lipped about the release of the iPad 2? Leave us your thoughts below…

Nothing beats the original tablet. No matter how hard they try, Apple has already proven itself time and time again. Xoom is an overrated product that soon will lose its charm once iPad 2 has been released. I can’t wait to have this device. I know all of you feel the same way!
