Samsung are expected to show off their next generation of Galaxy S2 at the Mobile World Congress next week, and this is looking even more likely as we’ve come across what is thought to be the specs for the eagerly anticipated smart phone.
The specs come via a number of sites and the handset is thought to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8260 1.2GHz dual-core processor with Adreno 3D graphics capabilities – an impressive combination more usually found in larger tablet devices.
Other specifications listed on the website, include 1GB of RAM plus and 8 megapixel camera which is capable of recording Full HD video in 1080p and a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat.
The rear camera, which looks to feature an auto-focus lens and an LED flash that doubles as a video light, is joined by a front-facing 2 megapixel camera for video calling – suggesting that the device will ship with Android 2.3, which introduced better support for dual-camera devices.
The Galaxy S2 will include near-field communications, or NFC technology – as found in the Android 2.3-based Google Nexus S, which was also manufactured by Samsung.
A WVGA-resolution 4.27in capacity Super AMOLED Plus display is the cherry on the top, but there’s one piece of information missing from the spec sheet: the price.
With the device expected to debut at the Mobile World Congress event next week, we shouldn’t have long to wait to see if Samsung can replicate the success of its original Galaxy S device.
