British consumers are said to buy around 30 million electronic items over the coming six months, according to the Energy Saving Trust (EST). Research by the trust shows Britons are increasingly regarding electronic gadgets as indespensible. In an effort to get consumers to buy more energy-efficient models the trust is calling for gadgets to carry warning labels that will display how much they cost to run.
There are already a number of tools that will allow us to monitor the power consumption of our gadgets, so is this necessary? Over the coming week I’ll review ways to monitor and save energy with our gadgets in a new category called “Energy Watch”.
