According to the latest statistics, despite the hype, the launch of the iPhone 4 did not result in Apple increasing its smartphone market share in the US.
The stats by industry watcher Nielsen show that Apple’s US market share held steady throughout 2010, floating between 27 and 29 per cent whilst Apple's competitors Research in Motion’s and Android held an equal share of around the 27 per cent mark.
Though the big 3 are at equal shares there has been a lot of movement. Android’s US market share grew every month except for January 2010, growing from 8 per cent to end the year with 27 per cent, while Blackberry's market share dropped by 10 per cent during the course of 2010 to 27 per cent.
It is slightly worrying for Apple that their shiny new model didn't boost their share but on the bright side, despite Android exploding onto the scene Apple didn't lose any.
Perhaps iPhone 5 will make a greater impact?
