Study Claims Users Surf Internet While Watching TV

Bet you didn't see this one coming! A study conducted by Nielsen and Yahoo has drawn some startling conclusions. One of them isthe fact that people engage in other activities while watching TV. So, we are not that much of couch potato as we thought, eh! As many as 86 percent of the mobile internet users surf net during their TV watching time. The good news is that almost 56 percent of the users utilize the time to interact with their family and friends via texting.

40 percent of the users engage in social networking while 37 percent simply browse the net doing random tasks. Good 33 percent of the users go for their mobile apps. The study itself is neat 47 pages long and has some interesting tidbits. On the more serious note, the study also concluded that 9 out of 10 users access net while they are shopping at a store and 50 percent of such activities are actually related to shopping. 36 percent of the people have admitted using mobile internet while having meal on their dinner tablet. But the fact that 41 percent users claimed that they access internet while in bathroom, shows how tech-centric our society has become. Well, is it good thing or a bad thing, do let us know.
