Sky has come out with some raw figures for its 3D TV service platform. The company has said that 70,000 homes have subscribed for
its 3D service. The figure sounds good, but pales in comparison to the fact that sky has over 3 million subscribers for its HD service alone. However, the company is certainly happy with the initial response. It also shows that almost half of the UK households with 3D TV sets are connected to Sky.
Sky 3D service is available free of charge to Sky HD subscribers. Sky is now working towards expanding its 3D portfolio. So look forward to watch natural history documentaries from Sir David Attenborough in 3D. Sky is also planning to broadcast ENO’s new production of Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia. This sounds good, since the ultimate success of 3D TVs depend on the quality of the content that you can watch on it. Of course, other factors like the price of TV sets and the viewing quality experience have their own important place. So, what do you think? Are you planning to jump on 3D TV bandwagon anytime soon? Let us know.
