Yea, yea, we know, all the tablets love being touted as iPad killer, although, so far, none of them has actually succeeded in doing it.We had high hopes from Motorola's show stealer Xoom tablet, but seems like the company has priced its product at $799, which is good $70 more than comparable 32GB WiFi+3G iPad. Well, of course, we are not accounting for dual camera and Flash capability of Xoom. Since iPad 2 launch seems to be just round the corner, it will be interesting to see how Apple prices its new product, which will also have dual camera and a couple of other new features.

Another price leak is about HTC Thunderbolt, which is going to set you back by $249.99. The phone has 4G LTE capability, so we would just attribute its premium pricing to the novelty value. The UK pricing for these devices is yet to be announced. But, what do you think, would you be willing to buy a tablet for a price which is only a tad lower than the price for a full-blown laptop with all the bells and whistles. Let us know your views.

Apple will almost certainly price the new iPad in the same way it does with new iPods and iPhones. The price either stays exactly the same or the internal storage all goes up by 1 step and all the prices go down 1 price grade.

This Motorola thing won’t come close to “killing” the iPad, I doubt at that price it’ll be in the top 10.

  • Yeah, I don’t think the Xoom is going to be killing anything at $799. They need momentum before demanding a price like that.

Xoom units sold in 2 months = 100,000
    iPad2 units sold in 1 DAY! = 300,000

Like I said, not an iPad killer, the only thing it will kill is Motorola’s share price.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
