RIM start to develop dual-core running ‘superphones.’

RIM haven't being doing too well in the smartphone industry as of late. So what are they doing to improve things? Well they tried a new smartphone (the Torch) which didn't do as well as they'd hope so now it's time to push things further. Smartphones are so last year now it's time for the 'superphone.'

RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis has confirmed that work on a more powerful BlackBerry smartphone has already begun.

He said that the new  ‘super phones’  would be based on dual core processors and the QNX OS currently being used for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Great but Mike says: “What we’re setting up is for the next 10 years of BlackBerry. We just finished the first 10 years, actually closer to 12 – the first decade of BlackBerry. Now we’re setting up for the next decade of BlackBerry.”

Oh.

Well good idea RIM, but bad timing, Especially considering the Motorola Atrix and LG Optimus 2X were showing off their dual core credentials at CES last week.
