Google Nexus S Hacked to Increase Speeds from 1Ghz to 1.2GHz

It has only been a couple of weeks since the release of the Google Nexus S, and at the moment it holds the crown for the world's best Android smartphone. However, we know that in the world of smartphones such a bold statement doesn't stay for long and it won't be long before some super smartphone will knock it off its top spot.

Well, call this an act of desperation or just a simple attempt to increase the processing speeds on the smartphone, as members of the XDA Developers forums have managed to overclock the Nexus S Hummingbird processor from 1GHz to 1.2GHz.

Now this isn't an official modification so try it if you dare as it could cause damage rather than good to your new Nexus S phone and also potentially void your warranty.

Full details of how to increase the speed of the Nexus S can be found on the XDA Developers forum here.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
