Call of Duty producing company Activision is looking for new ways to fleece you off, oops, we mean, for monetizing its megahit game.
Reportedly, Activision is planning to set a new way of playing Call of Duty online and turn it into a massive Multiplayer online game. According to the analysts at Wedbush Securities, the company will put the new tier in motion within the next three months.
So in the nutshell, Activision is not satisfied with billions it received from selling the game and another couple of millions it will get from selling expansion packs and maps. Activision may also introduce in-game selling of goods. Last year, the company had stated that it is desires to become "the leading action entertainment franchise in new geographies, new genres and with new digital business model."
However, it has assured that the boxed, retail copies of the game will not have to incur a subscription fee for playing the online components.
