While we were racking our brains out quibbling whether Honeycomb is Android 2.4 or 3.0, Asus has quietly come to our rescue. The company has confirmed that Honeycomb, indeed is Android 3.0. Although, this assertion hasn't come straight from horse's or Google's mouth, we are inclined to take Asus's word for it, since the company is officially the first one to announce an Android 3.0 device. The company has ostensibly beat Motorola, which is expected to introduce its Android 3.0 running tablet 'Xoom' during Consumer Electronics Show.
Asus seems to be determined to flood tablet segment as it unveiled a series of tablets and netbook-tablet fusions. Its 7-inch tablet, called Eee Pad MeMo, comes with Qualcomm Snapdragonâ„¢ processor. This Android 3.0 tablet will have HD playback capabilities and even has stylus pen for facilitating hand written notes. Apart from that, the company also said that the tablet will provide "an exciting web experience". Oh well, we will see. The tablet is likely to be available from June this year and has been priced $499 onwards.
