BT has announced results of its "The Race to Infinity" competition and instead of five, BT has chosen six winners. Under thecompetition, the communities had to appeal for the installation of superfast broadband in their neighborhood. The competition saw more than 360,000 votes being cast and now the following locations will have the privilege of superfast broadband:
- Baschurch, Shropshire
- Blewbury, Oxfordshire
- Caxton, Cambridgeshire
- Innerleithen, Scottish Borders
- Madigley, Cambridgeshire
- Whitchurch, Hampshire
BT Infinity is capable of delivery download speed of up to 40Mb, whereas upload speed can be as high as 10Mb. BT would be adding up to 40 additional rural markets to its super-fast broadband rollout phase. BT Infinity offers more reliable internet connection along with better wireless range. This way you don't have to worry about dead zones and drop outs. The company has also recently announced that it would be investing £2.5 billion for upgrading its infrastructure by 2015. The telecom giant's other endeavor include setting up a 1Gb broadband infrastructure in Kesgrave, Suffolk.

Although BT infinity advertises up to 40mb speed, the average speed I get is 20mb. The BT engineers say that this is the best I will get based on the line quality from the ‘green cabinet’ to my home. I was getting 16mb on dsl bt broadband so I am not hugely impressed with infinity.
