Not a long time back, Clear had launched its 4G mobile broadband router iSpot. The router was specifically designed for Apple
products ranging from iPod to iPhone. However, after mere five months, the company has announced that it will be discontinuing its pebble shaped router. Well, it does not sound very surprising, does it? Although, to its credit, the device had pretty reasonable price tag attached to it. The router itself was priced at $99 and its monthly data plan was priced at $25. But, surely, customers are looking for more than just low price level.
Even on the paper, the product was rife with limitations. After all, 4G is still in the development stage and hence does not have very wide coverage. But in practice, the router had even bigger problems. There were several reports about the router not recognizing even the legitimate devices. And that's what probably led to its ultimate demise. The company has announced that its stores would keep selling the remaining routers in their stock and it would also retain sufficient stock to service any warranties on the products already sold.
