Apple to Offer iPad2 in Three Variants?

If rumors doing rounds are to be believed then Apple is planning to provide its iPad users with more options for getting connected to internet. The company is expected to launch its next generation tablet with various combinations of Wi-Fi, CDMA and UMTS capabilities. According to the industry source, the Cupertino company is likely to feed 500,000 to 530,000 units of iPad to its channels in the month of January. The ratio for Wi-Fi, UMTS and CDMA is likely to be 3:4:3. UMTS protocol is based on GSM technology.

3G model of iPad accounts for about 65 percent of the tablet's total turnover. Industry sources have claimed that it shows that the consumers are willing to buy the products with more internet connectivity options. Apple is also supposed to be working on making iPad more anti-reflective. This development will sure encourage the use of the tablet as an e-reader. The screen is also likely to be more smudge-resistant. The source has also speculated that the company will unveil iPad 2 by the end of the first quarter or at the beginning of the second.
