HTC certainly set some hearts aflutter when it tweeted:
"European Desire HD/Desire Z users – look out for an update rolling out from today that will make your mobile experience evenbetter"
But as HTC Desire HD and Desire Z owners sat dreaming about getting Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread on their beloved handsets, the company realized its mistakes and posted a clarification:
"To clarify, the Desire Z/Desire HD update is a maintenance build based on all your feedback. Gingerbread is not a part of this update".
Oh well, Desire HD/Z have got to wait behind Nexus S to get some of its own Gingerbread. Google had announced the release of 2.3 at the beginning of this month and so far Google Nexus S is the only phone confirmed to get the update.
Anyhow, some users who have downloaded the maintenance update have reported that it has considerably improved the home screens switching process. The new update will also bring a new phone dialer with features such as View Contact and Hold button. It will also have an Add Call button. And what else, the update will have new memories skin and Christmas-ey sound set.
