Elliptic Reveal Touch-Free Motion Sensing Dock For Tablets

The people at Elliptic Labs have released a video showing off one of their iPad and other tablets accessories set to be shown off at CES in January. The new piece of tech is a dock which recognises hand motions within a certain range of the tablet for navigation and other uses.

Although the range hasn’t been revealed (the further the better of course), the video shows off a rather close range demonstration of the various functions from picking up faster and slower movements in all 4 directions for controlling how fast you navigate the tablet, as well as a recogniser of distance which is shown pausing and playing music on the tablet (which will hopefully be used to select things too).

The dock which will be shown at CES 2011 is said to be low cost and low power, so this may be one of the more interesting and affordable tablet accessories shown off at the event. A video demonstration of the dock can be found in the link below.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
