The Samsung Galaxy S has without a doubt been one of the most successful smartphones to be released this year. Despite all it’s Android 2.2 Froyo update problems across various networks, it seems the phone may do as well as Samsung predicted. Samsung predicted that the Samsung Galaxy S would sell 10 million devices by the end of 2010, and it seems that number is looking promising with the latest figures showing that 9.3 million devices have been sold worldwide.
Just a couple of months ago, the Samsung Galaxy S sales hit the 5 million mark and with just 1 week until we hit the new year an extra 700,000 devices could definitely be possible even with the Christmas explosion dying down (and maybe they can just sell 200,000 and round up to the nearest million).
Samsung home country South Korea has a notable number of this years sales taking up a fifth of the target number with 2 million devices being sold. South Korea sales of the Samsung Galaxy S also beat all iPhone sales in the country likely being one of the only places to have done so.
