UK Release Of LG Optimus 2X Coming January

An announcement regarding the ringtones for the LG Optimus 2X has had some interesting information attached to it. Although it may have been interesting to know that Ennio Morricone – who has famously written film scores for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and The Thing – is collaborating with LG to write some ringtones, what’s more exciting is that the announcement mentioned when the device will be released in Europe.

The official announcement from LG told us about the Morricone contributions to the ringtones of the Optimus 2X, along with saying that the phone is “set to debut next month in Europe” meaning we may be seeing the device here in the UK before February.

The Android smartphone, which boasts a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, was expected to be a Korea-only phone for a while before we saw any sign of it on a global scale. The LG Optimus 2X is coming with Android 2.2 Froyo already installed too, with a Gingerbread upgrade expected to be ready not too long after the phone’s release. It is expected that because of the dual-core processor the Optimus 2X could be one of the most powerful Android smartphones around.

Here’s just to hoping the smartphone won’t be as expensive as previously rumoured.
