Some technical problems with the firmware update for KIES for Samsung Galaxy S (I9000M series) smartphones resulted in the feature being "temporarily disabled", according to a Samsung Company Statement.
The frustrating thing about this glitch is that it "affects the ability to upgrade to Android 2.2", with Samsung keeping the problems to themselves only saying that there were "intermittent issues" in the firmware upgrade process. Samsung have said that "Samsung’s development team is currently aware of this issue and working towards a solution."
Samsung has been rather unfortunate so far when it comes to getting the now outdated version of Android to its customers. Back in October, Samsung "promised" that Android 2.2 Froyo would be released, but the update was delayed until November and we're still not seeing Froyo across a number of devices today. The Samsung Galaxy S series has been the most infamous device for problems with the update, with numerous delays across the various networks which support the device.
If you're facing any problems with the update or device, Samsung have suggested you contact the Samsung Social Hub Support line, or e-mail them at sh.support@samsung.com.
