Sony Ericsson's PlayStation phone is a highly anticipated handset and if a new trademark filing is to be believed, then the phone islikely to get the moniker of 'Xperia Play'. We can only assume that the phone will be a good addition to 'Xperia' brand. The leaked trademark filing has also shows that phone is not merely a figment of our imagination. By the way, the company has also filed for some other trademarks such as 'Xperia Arc', 'Xperia Neo' and 'Xperia Duo'.
Since the company has also registered www.xperiaplay.com and a couple of other related domains, we can almost rest assured that PlayStation phone is in works. The phone was earlier rumored to be released under the name 'Xperia Z1'. The phone is expected to be equipped with a slider gamepad and it will run on Android OS. Since the phone is said to have better-than-WVGA resolution, it might be getting gingerbread or honeycomb variant of Android. Now, that the phone seems to be more and more real, all we can do is to wait for an official announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
