Motorola call iPad a ‘big iPhone’

Motorola's been having a pop at Apple.

Despite being widely celebrated, the iPad has been branded a 'giant iPhone' by the possibly jealous electronics company.

In their latest advertisement (watch below) Motorola says their tablet "isn’t just a giant Droid X."

But apart from a buzzing bee (referring to the Honeycomb OS) the ad doesn’t give much away about the upcoming tablet device.

The adverts definitely worth a watch though. It 'traces the history of tablets' from Egyptian hieroglyphics tablets through the iPad to the Android tablet. A bit more creative than the usual video of someone playing with a tablet device in a cafe.

i dont buy apple, dont care for apple products, but the ipad is a great product. it does what it says, it works and hey guess what, it is actually being produced and sold to the general public. im sick and tired of vapor hardware being adveritised 2 years before it hits the market. makes me so mad that companies throw crap marketing up like this saying “dont buy an ipad now, wait 2 years for me product” motorola, that is borderline insanity. notionink is doing this with the Adam, viewsonic has the soon to be released View Pad, samsung has an overpriced undersized thingy. motorola, when you have a product for sell come see me. otherwise quit with smoke and mirrors and focus on actually producing a product.

So, Motorola think that something that doesn’t make phone calls is a phone, riiiight!

Thanks for that Motorola, when I get a new phone I won’t buy an iPhone, I’ll definitely get myself one of those Motorola errr, erm, nope, can’t even name one.

All other companies follow Apple and rarely do it better. Yes Apple is a monstrous bully monopoly company who over charges for everything but I’d rather pay over the odds for quality gear that leads the way than pay less for a product that just badly copies other products.

Before the iPad, tablets were few and far between, I hadn’t seen one since late 90’s. Apple brings out the iPad and every company jumps on the bandwagon with their “iPad killer” which either bombs or never sees the light of day.

Spend more time being innovative and less time trying to catch up with Apple, they have had a massive head start in a much faster car.

Example please of bullying by Apple.
Example please of Apple’s monopoly status. Please remember it isn’t illegal to have a monopoly either.
Example of a ‘monstrous bully monopoly company’ that DOESN’T over charge for everything.

Please remember that Apple contributes to open source projects like webkit and Darwin. Puts out their own Apps for free on the App store. So that negates your last statement about them over charging for everything.

    But also…

If people are willingly and knowingly buying Apple products how are they being overcharged or paying over the odds? Clearly you see value in the product thats why you bought it. Your logic circuits are broken. I never understood that part, its not like anybody is being forced to buy their stuff.

  • I love play with electronic , phone computers and many others but when I bought the first ipad I left my labtop home and apple ipad became my best friend.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
