Apple take down WikiLeaks app.

Of course Apple have taken down a WikiLeaks app.

Even normally 'flexible' Amazon gave up their usual 'we stand for freedom of speech' stance and booted the whistle blowing site of its server, shortly followed by other cowardly Government tools such as PayPal Amazon, MasterCard and the Bank of America.

After a few days of availability, Apple unplugged a WikiLeaks app from its iTunes App Store.

The application, which went live on December 17, provided users with access to WikiLeaks documents and updates from the site’s Twitter account.

Russian developer ‘Igor Barinov or @wikileaksapp on Twitter submitted the app for Apple’s approval on December 11.

The app was on sale for $1.99 with half the money raised going directly to WikiLeaks and presumably the other half going in Barinov's holiday fund.

Apparently he had raised $1,000 (primarily from U.S sales.)

Thankfully interested Android users still can check out several WikiLeaks applications, both free and for a price.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
