The Consumer Electronics Show, one of the biggest tech events that kicks off the new year is just next month (in fact just a few weeks away). Although it’s guaranteed to be a technology overload, the Google TV’s upcoming devices from various companies supporting the web video interface could leave a distinctive hole in the event. The reason for this? Well apparently Google simply isn’t ready.
Devices from companies such as Samsung, Toshiba, and Vizio have been anticipated for the CES – adding to the already released devices from Sony and Logitech – offering hopefully more diversity from the Google TV.
The New York Times has been reporting that Google have requested their hardware manufacturers to hold off showing their upcoming Google TV devices until the new version of the OS is ready.
Speculation as to Google’s reasons for doing this have been that the current OS version hasn’t wowed too many people so far and the next version could be the turnaround. There is also the possibility that Google have not prepared their app store in time, making the devices effectively incomplete.
