The Conservative's are stomping all over our rights again. In a period in which they seem to be cutting everything, pornography is no different and if communications minister Ed Vaizey gets his way it will be blocked from the internet in the UK.
It is said that the prudish Government is keen to switch to a blanket block, with users having to 'opt-in' if they want to view pornography on their web devices.
Vaizey is to meet with BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk to discuss changing the way pornography enters people’s homes in order to protect children from being exposed to it’s evil influence on the net.
“I’m hoping they will get their acts together so that we don’t have to legislate, but we are keeping an eye on the situation and we will have a new communications bill in the next couple of years” Vaizey said
The Torries latest plans come after Claire Perry, a Conservative MP who has campaigned for tighter controls with web pornography said last month that 60 per cent of 9 to 19-year-olds had accessed porn online, with only 15 per cent of parents knowing how to filter websites.
Surely there are more important things for the government to be concerned about than pornography? Once again they rope people in with the good old 'protect the children' bait and start censoring and controlling what we can and can't access. Sure it's porn now but what will they want to take off us next?
Isn't it a dangerous message to be sending, that the naked human form is somehow shameful and illicit? Freud would be all over this.
So what do you think? Should we purge the internet ?

One thought on “UK government to ban internet porn.”
This isn’t their job, they should just teach the parents to censor these sites, or perhaps they should be on at the PC manufacturers to block these sites as standard unless proof of age is entered into the software and from that point on, an access PIN is used to view these sites.
