We see incredibly fast responses usually when it comes to jailbreaking newly released devices, and it looks like the Google Nexus S was not going to be an exception. An XDA Developers member who is known as Koush has managed to root the Google Nexus S already despite its release just yesterday.

With the jailbreak Koush created a custom version of the Clockwork Recovery tool and also booted the Nexus S using an Android App called Superuser - which was developed by another XDA Developers member.

The instructions for doing the jailbreak yourself have not yet been completed, and no ROM support has been sorted. However, it is likely the instructions will be appearing very soon, and we are likely to be seeing plenty more hacks on the Gingerbread smartphone in the near future. If you’re interested in looking at the in-progress instructions, check them out here.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
