We all know that Yahoo is struggling in this Google dominated world, but it is perhaps worse than we expected.
The web company is reportedly in the process of retiring eight products and axeing 600 jobs worldwide.
So far Yahoo has only confirmed the death of Buzz but products said to be on the hit list also include Delicious, MyBlogLog and AltaVista.
In a statement to All Things Digital yesterday the company said that-
“We continuously evaluate and prioritise our portfolio of products and services, and do plan to shut down some products in the coming months such as Yahoo! Buzz, our Traffic APIs, and others. We will communicate specific plans when appropriate.”
It's a shame to see Yahoo slowly falling apart but it's a vicious world out there on the web and things change fast.
Hopefully after a little clean up Yahoo can come back with a fresh focus in the New Year.
