While we all are anxiously waiting PlayStation phone to hit the shelves, Sony is giving us one more distraction. The company hasannounced that it is looking to launch its first official app for Android and iOS platform. Well, let's not get our hopes high, it is not a full fledged mobile gaming app but it is a good start in the right direction. The app will run on iPhone and iPod Touch equipped with OS 4 and above. For Android phones, you need to have OS 1.6 or above.
With this app, you can keep a tab on your PlayStation trophies while remaining in contact with your PS friends and their activities. You can also receive updates about PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 news and games. Similar functionality is available for PSP as well. And of course, there is social networking module, which you can use to share news and products with your friends using email, Twitter and Facebook.
The app will available in UK, France, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands and Germany. If you think this 1.0 is not going to do much for you, fret not, the company is already working on next generation of the app which is likely to bring many new features.
