Bing 2.0 for iPhone, brings Facebook integration and Streetside

Apart from those annoying adverts, unless you're one of them anti-Google ones you probably won't see much of Bing in your life but if you've got an iPhone the little search engine may be your new best friend.

Apple has just approved version 2.0 of the Bing search app for iOS devices and it's looking pretty impressive. The app is packed with new features such as the integration of Facebook Likes on search results  Yes, Facebook likes on search results. It seems a bit mad to me but for some (preferably with lots of trustworthy friends) it may come in useful.

Bing has also brought Streetside (below) to the table which is probably their biggest weapon against Google. The tool is basically an improvement on Google's street-view.

Whilst Streetview requires much forward- and back-clicking and turning in order to get a feel for a location, Streetside provides a more comprehensive view of the shops and businesses in an area by letting you strafe down the sidewalk while zooming in and out of the buildings located on each side of the street.

Obviously not all places are covered by Streetside but they do seem to have large areas of major cities covered including the likes of Chicago, Seattle, New York, and San Francisco. Sorry.

Nothing yet in London and Amsterdam for us Europeans but it's no doubt something that Microsoft are working on.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
