Consumer's confidence in Nokia gets another bashing as the ramshackle phone manufactures make another delay to their smartphone range. MeeGo has been pushed back and further and further the N8 was hit by delays and now it has been confirmed that the Symbian-powered E7 slider will also be delayed.
The official word is that it is launching in early 2011, not December 2010 which was originally announced. Nokia is said to be holding up production due to a “minor durability issue” discovered in the E7 hardware.
It's a shame the E7 will miss the shopping season but in defence of Nokia it's good to see them taking their time to ensure the quality of their product before release. We all know Apple would rush it out for Xmas and then pretend the issues aren't real and then release an update a few months later.
Rant over.
Are you waiting for the E7 or have Nokia lost their appeal?

The E7 appeals to me – a lot! I like a decent keyboard and really don’t get on with on screen ones – hence iPhone and many Android devices are out. A big screen also appeals – the web just doesn’t work on smaller ones, so Crackberry is out too (and for a load of other reasons as well!).
BUT……… my last Nokia experience was the N97. In the end various updates have rendered it “acceptable”, but no more, from a system software perspective. Physically, it has been fine. Available applications are good, do all that I could want and more (the iPhone App Store is much less impressive than most people think!).
and………. will developers support Symbian3? In the end, that will be the test. The developers of one of my most used applications (HandBase) won’t commit as yet – but have Android, iPhone etc versions. In the end, that might be what sways me – in which case my next phone will be an Android with a keyboard – and that means HTC Desire Z.
