The time has come again when Apple ships yet again their next generation market breaking MP3 players, however this time it would seem they’ve gone all out by introducing the iPod Touch to their already fantastic MP3 porfolio.

Looks can be deceiving, because when you first look at their new iPod you would think that you’ve grabbed your hands on the notorious Apple iPhone. There’s no need to take a second glance at the packaging because it would seems that all Apple have done is remove the iPhone's call feature and renamed it, the iPod Touch and in effect works in all the same ways as its more expensive brother.
It connects to the Internet to allow you to view WebPages on the go and controls in the same way as the iPhone which in my opinion could be improved. For example, the Touch won’t work when your walking outside with gloves on; meaning if your walking somewhere and its freezing, you’ll have to run the risk of developing frost-bite if your using your iPod Touch.
Another example of the downside of this type of technology is the finger marks it gathers. You can spend every minute of every day cleaning the iTouch and as soon as you put it down again more finger marks will have appeared, leaving you angry and frustrated.
As you can tell I am not at all a fan of touch screen technology so let me rant on about another thing that angers me over using an MP3 Player from Apple…it’s insistence that we have to use iTunes. I’ll probably hear you cry, "but hey are least its free", but with today's technology forcing a user to have to use a certain type of package to me seems a rather outdated and a despised practice.
This said however, I can't help but love the new iPod; the menus are easy to navigate and have been designed in such a way that the user feels like their using something special.
The quality is the best I've heard from most MP3 player's to date and nothing has been toned down to incorporate all of its features.
The Gaj-it Verdict
Design: 9/10
Usability: 7/10
Features: 8/10
Value: 8/10
We Say: All in all I can't help but love the iPod Touch. Apple have been setting the MP3 benchmark for years now and this new edition doesn't seem to be showing the ravages of time, with a hefty price tag though, it can put a lot of people off but with Apple you get what you pay for. If you want an MP3 player that does everything then this is defiantly a must have.
