Google May Launch New and Improved Android Market

Google is planning to rollout new Android Market in next two weeks. However, the new Market will only be available for devicesrunning Android 1.6 or higher. Among the many changes, the noticeable one is about the interface on the home and category screens, which will now show featured apps which you can flip through and may decide to download.

Another added feature will mimic "Related" and will show you the apps closely resembling the main app. The feature has been dubbed "Discovery". So far, users had to remain dependant on 3rd party apps for searching related apps. So, the new update has at least this problem.

The Market will also get new categories in the future. However, it already has added "Widgets" and "Live Wallpapers" to its cache. Android Market Place currently provides 24 hours window for returning the apps for unconditional and full refunds. And now the bad news, this window has now been shortened to 15 minutes. This sounded catastrophic to me but Android data shows that most of the refunds occur within a few minutes of purchase, anyways.

We cannot wait to lay our hands on new Market place and see how it works. Do let us know your views as and when you get the access to new Market Place.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
