LG Optimus Phones May Not Get Gingerbread

Reportedly, LG posted on its Facebook wall that the company's Optimus line of phones may not get upgraded to AndroidGingerbread version. Apparently, the phone line's 600 MHz processor does not fulfill the minimum requirements put forth for Gingerbread. Gingerbread requires 1 GHz processor. However, after initial shock reaction, some of the company fans did not waste much time in pointing out that Gingerbread has not come out with any such processor speed requirement. Some of the people even accused the company of lying.

Evidently, LG took notice of the reaction and issued another statement which confirmed the point presented by the users. The statement stated that Google has yet to release any such list of requirement for Gingerbread and till then it may not be decided whether Optimus line is upgrade-ready or not. However, it is still difficult to gauge LG's intentions behind making the premature statement, especially a negative one at that. One thing is for the sure though, the users will now think twice before buying an Optimus phone.
