Nintendo have released a statement confirming that the latest DSi software will be region locked, so it looks like we Europeans will be losing out once again as software from other countries will be unavailable to us.
In more news, it looks like DS software will remain unlocked on the DSi which is good news I suppose if there is any software you want to import from the US for example to use on the DSi.
Nintendo then went on to state that you will be able to browse the Internet on the DSi wherever you are in the world in order to exchange your photos with friends from around the world.
The reasons for the above were stated as the following:-
“DSi is region locked because DSi embeds net communication functionality within itself and we are intending to provide net services specifically tailored for each region. Also because we are including parental control functionality for Nintendo DSi and each region has its unique age limit made by different independent.”
So looks like you won't be able to get a cheap DSi from Japan and play it here in the UK like you did with the DS………..Booo!
