Among the more newsworthy new entrant in the smartphone segment are HTC Desire Z and Nokia C7. Both the phones havebeenblessed with gorgeous looks and equally impressive specs. However, let's pit the phones against each other and see which one is a better fit for your requirements.

Appearance: When it comes to picking up a phone, it's the form factor of the handset that catches our eyes first. Nokia C7 is a Bar type phone, whereas HTC Desire Z has slightly more zany looks with its slider from. C7 has more petite body with 117.3×56.8×10.5 mm dimensions whereas HTC Desire Z is slightly chunkier at 119×60.4×14.2 mm. Desire Z is also slightly heavier at 180 g compared to 130 g weight of C7. HTC Desire Z, being a slider phone, also has a QWERTY keypad with optical Trackpad.

Display: When it comes to display, Nokia C7 and HTC Desire Z seems to be going their own different ways. HTC Desire Z trumps Nokia C7 with its 3.7 inches S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, which is capable of displaying 16M colors. Although Nokia C7 is at par for color display but its AMOLED screen measures only 3.5 inches. We tend be to be a little more biased towards the phone with extra screen real estate. Further C7 has display resolution of 360×640 pixels whereas HTC Desire Z gives you 480×800 pixels.

Storage & Battery: Both the phones are just the same when it comes to storage. C7 as well as HTC Desire Z have Micro SD card slots for memory expansion. For both the phones, you can use the Micro SD cards to expand the memory up to 32 GB. C7 comes with on board storage of 8GB in comparison to 1.5GB provided by HTC Desire Z. With liion1200mAh battery, C7 claims to provide up to 9 hours 30 minutes of talk time whereas HTC Desire Z claims to give you 9 hours 50 minutes of talk time with liion1300mAh battery.

Technical Nitty-Gritty: HTC Desire Z features 800 MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor whereas C7 comes with a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor. Both the processors, however, fall short of the current benchmark of 1 GHz processors. The main distinction point between the two phones is their choice of operating system. HTC Desire Z runs the current darling of the masses Android operating system whereas C7 employs Symbian^3 operating system.

As for the camera, Nokia C7 comes with impressive 8 megapixel camera with face detection and Geo-tagging features. The phones can also record videos with 720p@25fps specification. HTC Desire Z, on the other hand, falls a little behind with 5 MP camera with the similar additional functions offered by C7. HTC Desire Z also records HD videos at 720p.

Both the phone offers Bluetooth functioning, GPS facility and internet connectivity. C7 and HTC Desire Z also have Stereo FM Radio and video players.
