HTC Evo 4G Android 2.3 Hack on its way.

Gingerbread is here and you're going to be hearing about it non-stop over the next few weeks and months.

Today's Google OS based news is that XDA-Developers are now working on porting Android 2.3 to the HTC Evo 4G.

The brand new shiny Android 2.3 port is currently on Build 4. It started at build 1 where a message on the forums said “almost everything doesn’t work” although it does boot and the screen works. Moving up to build 4 and a few of the bugs are being ironed out but it's still far from perfect just yet.

There's no ETA for a fully working version on the Evo 4G but XDA are working hard and we're only talking a few weeks wait which is a lot less of a wait then some customers are going to have with the official updates if they're anything like the Froyo ones.

We'll keep you posted on all things Gingerbread and as soon as a fully working port hits the web we'll let you know.

In the meantime, the official Android 2.3 is now ready for download, here.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
