Google has placed itself into the eBook market, with the new Google eBookstore. Along with this release, Google have released an eBooks Web Reader for PC reading (which has browser-based access to a cloud-store), as well as eReader apps for both their own OS Android (example shown below) and Apple's iOS users. The new store from Google is currently offering 3 million titles which are made up of both paid-for published texts, as well as free public-domain eBooks.
Google have also made independent partners out of Powell's, Alibris and participating members of the American Booksellers Association where you can also purchase eBooks.
Selected eBooks available from the new store will support features such as user-selectable fonts, font sizes and line spacing, day/night reading modes, and page sync for multiple-device users.
NOOK and Sony Reader users will be able to transfer across their Google eBookstore purchases too, thanks to the Adobe eBook format which is supported throughout.
Unfortunately, the service is currently only available to the US, but the site can be viewed from any region. Expect the store to come to other regions in the near future.
