Another Gran Turismo 5 Patch: Improves Damage System

Despite being forced to recieve a patch before it was even released, Gran Turismo 5 is set to recieve another patch this month intending to focus on the controversial mechanical damage system.

The newly release Gran Turismo 5 has come under fire because of its controversial realistic mechanical damage system which gives the player more realistic crashes the higher their driver rating goes, making it effectively a ‘reward’ for hours of playing. The new update seems to give players the option to change the way this syetm works through some menu settings.

Via Twitter, Head of Polyphony Digital - Kazunori Yamauchi – spoke about the upcoming patch, claiming; ‘Mechanical damage options will be implemented in a new update for GT5 coming “early December”‘.

The previous patch, which came out before the release of the game allowed online content to be accessed, and shortly after the release reports of delays and loading issues to single player modes caused bycongested online content forced Sony to update the game over the weekend, temporarily removing access to in-game updatable logs.

Hopefully this will not be a frequent procedure with Gran Turismo 5, and the game will actually work to its full standards after this update.

  • I don’t mind the patches as long as they improve the quality of the game. Patch away!!
